Existentialist philosophy serves as the basis for my work, complemented by my fascination for science and current affairs.
Alienation has been a part of human existence throughout history.
I perceive that this has escalated in recent years due to the increased polarisation of viewpoints.
This is happening in a world already impaired by estrangement due to the uncertainty of globalisation, artificial intelligence and hyper inter-connectivity from technology.
I hope for my work to convey an awareness of human interrelation in the world, and express the importance of ‘positive contamination’ by the other; an openness to change via mutual influence, engagement and interaction, difference and influence.
My working practise emerges from and interacts with my own estrangement, but the process offers me a place to experience a sense of belonging.
It is not a clear road; there are obstacles, resistance and it is often accompanied with with a sense of failure to understand – and in my work I can at times hear the voice of the chaotic world, and experience a magnetic connection with it.
